Samir Handanovic gave Inter Milan positive reviews of Monza duo Valentin Carboni and Michele Di Gregorio for their performances against Roma.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews.

Inter sent former Nerazzurri captain Samir Handanovic to yesterday evening’s Serie A match between Monza and Roma.

The purpose of the 39-year-old’s watching brief was to observe two players in particular. Handanovic had one of his first real scouting assignments since retiring from playing last season.

One was to watch young attacking midfielder Carboni.

The 18-year-old is a player who is currently on loan at Monza from Inter. And the Nerazzurri are seriously considering giving him a place in the first team next season.

In any event, Carboni is certainly a player Inter see as part of future plans.

That is why they did not include a purchase option in his loan to Monza.

And Inter reportedly rejected interest from Fiorentina, Brentford, and West Ham United in signing Carboni during the January transfer window.

FCIN note that Inter would consider offers north of €30 million.

But there is little thought of selling the Argentine unless a very significant bid were to arrive.

And according to FCIN, Handanovic gave a positive assessment of Carboni’s performance off the bench in a difficult match against Roma to the club.

Inter Receive Positive Carboni & Di Gregorio Reviews From Handanovic

Another player who Handanovic was at the U-Power to watch was keeper Di Gregorio.

Handanovic is a man uniquely well-suited to watching goalkeepers and assessing their performances.

The Slovenian was a veteran who spent years as a top keeper in Serie A with both Inter and Udinese.

And FCIN report that Handanovic thought highly from what he saw from Di Gregorio yesterday.

The 26-year-old may have seen four goals go by him. But he was hardly at fault for any of them.

And there were a few good stops from Di Gregorio.

Handanovic assessed the former Inter academy graduates reactions, position, and other aspects of his game.

And the Slovenian’s assessment confirmed the fact that Inter see Di Gregorio as a target.

However, FCIN note, there was also a scout from Juventus watching the Monza keeper against Roma. This suggests that the Bianconeri do indeed see the 26-year-old as a target.

Therefore, Inter could face some real competition for Di Gregorio’s signature.
