Inter are planning to compete with Juventus for Albert Gudmundsson this summer and believe Valentin Carboni could be the key for a deal with Genoa.

The 26-year-old Icelandic midfielder has been one of the key figures in Alberto Gilardino’s squad on the Ligurian coast this season, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 27 Serie A appearances this term. He has quickly started to attract attention from a number of top clubs, including Juventus.

Inter are gearing up for an important campaign next season, competing on multiple fronts including Serie A, the Champions League and Club World Cup, prompting them to start looking for the right reinforcements for Simone Inzaghi’s squad.

Page 11 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Inter are aware of the €30m price tag on Gudmundsson and have a plan to lower the cost, hoping to include talented youngster Carboni in a deal.

Currently on loan at Monza, the Nerazzurri don’t want to lose control of the Argentine talent and so are hoping to send him to Genoa in some form of deal with a buy-back option attached.
