The Latest on Eddy Pineiro's Injury
USA TODAY Sports

Carolina Panthers kicker Eddy Pineiro is nursing a groin injury and is likely to be ruled out of Saturday's preseason game against the New York Jets.

Fortunately, the injury doesn't appear to be something that will keep him on the shelf for long according to head coach Frank Reich, who provided an update on Thursday.

"He's doing well. He's progressing well. We're going to be cautious. Eddy has established himself to be our kicker. We want to make sure that we stay ahead of this thing and wait until he's full strength before we get him back out there."

In the meantime, the Panthers are taking a look at Matthew Wright who has spent time with the Steelers, Jaguars, and Chiefs in his short time in the NFL. For his career, Wright is 40/46 on field goal attempts and 35/37 on PATs.
